Dirty hardware

If there’s dirt, debris, or grime trapped between the buttons of your mouse, it may cause a double click. So in this case, you should clean the insides by disassembling the mouse. After this, clean the dust using a mini vacuum cleaner, blow compressed air, or cotton swabs. Once done, assemble everything in a unit and undergo another 2x click test to check whether it’s working appropriately now or not.

Too low Double Click Speed

Another reason which may cause your mouse to record faulty double click is too low 2x click speed. Most computers come with the default settings which control the double click speed automatically. Still, you might change it mistakenly which may cause your mouse to behave abnormally. In this case, you need to go to mouse settings and adjust it to a high value. After this, take another double click test to check your mouse accuracy.
